Kazakhstan awaits “Digital Nomads”

IT industry enthusiasts will help drive a digital revolution in the Republic of Kazakhstan, says the AIFC Governor

Kazakhstan is becoming a popular destination for relocation and work among IT specialists and tech startups, who are expected to help elevate the country’s position in global digitalization rankings. This was stated by Kairat Kelimbetov, Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), during a panel session at the Astana Finance Days 2022 international forum.

“In recent months, we have witnessed the migration of Russian IT-sector companies to the Caucasus region. Some companies chose Kazakhstan and successfully relocated to our capital and to Almaty. Astana Hub has become a strong magnet for IT-industry enthusiasts and tech startups, including in the FinTech sector. Several companies have already registered on this international platform. As of December last year, there were 82 companies. After February, an additional 15 Russian companies joined,” said Kairat Kelimbetov.

The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) is an independent jurisdiction that began operating in 2018. Under its Development Strategy through 2025, AIFC’s key objective is to establish itself as a universal platform connecting the EAEU countries, Central Asia, and the Caucasus.
